These Books Are a Guide I hope you’ll use the books often, and whenever you feel like it. Use them as a guide if and when you become ill. They’re not meant to replace the diagnostic skill and sensible advice and treatment ordered by your physician, who must remain the link between you and sound medical treatment. Rather, these books will be used in a complementary manner. They will augment the value you will gain from your doctor, probably give you greater insight into your problem, and maybe do the things the doctor has not time to do. In addition, these books will provide background information.
They will set out ways in which you can gain better health by sensible living and thinking. If they do a fraction of all this, I will feel time and effort—extending, with revisions, over a number of years (in my spare time and holidays)—it has taken to put together. In conclusion, might I suggest everybody should set a goal in life in regard to good health.
Set yourself a target to keep fit and well, in mind and body, and this will give you something to work for. These books also tell you how. Never forget that good health and life itself basically come from God. I’m a Christian doctor, and believe these principles, applied to everyday living, are often the mental and psychological basis on which to build better health. My good wishes are extended to you, and I trust you will maintain excellent health for many years to come.
